
Jill Schools International follows the Cambridge curriculum. The Cambridge curriculum has three core subjects. The core subjects are English, mathematics and science. Besides the core subject you have the following subjects, that are also part of the Cambridge curriculum; art & design, music, physical education, digital literacy and global perspective. About every subject we wrote down why it is important for the development of your child. The Cambridge curriculum is designed to engage leaners in an active and creative learning journey. It is dedicated to engage learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged.

English
English is the first core subject from the Cambridge curriculum. This curriculum covers knowledge, skills and understanding in three different strands; reading, writing and speaking and listening. During the lessons there is attention for all of these areas. Reading is mainly about understanding the text and be able to answer questions about the text, the focus is on comprehension skills. During the writing lessons the children are learning the grammar from the English language. Also sentence structure and punctuation is an important part of these lessons. Speaking and listening is about how the children can express themselves.

Mathematics
Mathematics is the second core subject from the Cambridge curriculum. There are five content areas: Number, Geometry, Measure, Handling data and Problem solving. The first four areas are all underpinned by problem solving, which describes using techniques and skills and the application of understanding and strategies in solving problems. Key part of the number content are mental strategies. The Cambridge curriculum focuses on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships

Science
Science is the third core subject from the Cambridge curriculum. This curriculum is presented in four content areas: Scientific enquiry, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Scientific enquiry is about considering ideas, evaluating evidence, planning investigative work and recording and analyzing data. This objective underpins Biology, Chemistry and Physics, which are focused on developing confidence and interest in scientific knowledge. Some history of science and environmental awareness are also incorporated.

Art
Art & Design will enable learners to explore the limitless possibilities that exist both in art and in their own creativity. It is a wide-ranging discipline that brings together skills and intellectual thought processes from across the curriculum, learners will also become experimental, reflective, critical and decisive thinkers. The enjoyable and collaborative nature of art & design will also provide them with many opportunities for social development.

Physical Education
Physical education is a vital part of a balanced school curriculum. Regular exercise improves both physical and mental health and there is growing evidence that is also improves academic performance across the curriculum. Establishing good patterns of exercise in primary school also provides learners with the foundation of an active and healthy lifestyle of life.

During the lessons the learners develop their understanding of movement. Physical activities also provide many opportunities for moving to learn. Learners learn important skills social skills as taking turns, sharing space and equipment and cooperating with others. They also learn develop their skills and understanding of leadership and fair play through a range of team and group activities.

Music
Music fosters creativity and builds confidence. It helps learners develop a deeper understanding of self-expression, and shows them the importance of communication as they learn to connect with others. The focus is on play and on responding to music which leads to an increasing awareness of self and personal musicality. This curriculum is designed to be flexible so that it is also combined with our local context with music.
